Exploring the commodification of nature through the ubiquitous Canadian ʻWildernessʼ photo, March 2008: The continuous ebb and flow of the Pacific Ocean near Tofino appropriates the image and text of a calendar landscape, returning to the genreʼs painterly origins. Painted on an air mattress attached to an automated Coleman electric pump, the piece suggests a certain absurdity in its relationship to imagined wilderness, while remaining complicit in a troublingly earnest reproduction of idealized nature.

A limited edition "Vancouver Island" postcard accompanied this project as ephemera and a mailout invitation to gallery members.
